Poster announcing Kindergarten Enrollment for Kearney School District, beginning Feb. 2, 2026.
Kearney School District’s kindergarten enrollment opens on Monday, Feb. 2, for the 2026-2027 academic year. If you have a child who will be age five on or before July 31, 2026, this will be the time to enroll them in kindergarten!

We will email and post information about how to enroll on Feb. 2; updates will also be available on our website. Parents/guardians will be required to provide their own government-issued identification and a birth certificate, a record of required immunizations and proof of residence for their child during kindergarten enrollment. Use our online district boundary map to locate the elementary school your child will attend. Questions can be emailed to reghelp@ksdr1.net.

The Harlem Wizards Are Coming to Kearney

The KSD Education Foundation (KSDEF) is excited to introduce a brand-new community event this spring, the Harlem Wizards basketball fundraiser, coming to Kearney High School on Saturday, April 11, 2026!

The Harlem Wizards are known nationwide for their high-energy blend of basketball skill, comedy, and audience interaction. This family-friendly event promises laughter, incredible tricks, and unforgettable moments as students, staff, and community members come together to celebrate Bulldog pride.

As KSDEF’s first Harlem Wizards event, this game marks an exciting new chapter for the Foundation’s fundraising efforts. Proceeds from the event will support KSDEF’s mission of enhancing educational opportunities for Kearney students through classroom innovation grants, student programs, and scholarships.

KSDEF hopes this inaugural Wizards game becomes a new Kearney tradition, one that brings the community together while directly supporting students and teachers across the district. Join us on Saturday, April 11, at KHS!

Kearney Robotics Hosting Trivia Night Fundraiser on Jan. 17

Kearney Robotics is hosting a Trivia Night fundraiser and we’d love to see our Bulldog families there! Join us for a fun, Jeopardy-style night of trivia from 7 to 9 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 17, in the Kearney Junior High Commons. Teams can have 5–8 people (singles are welcome and will be placed on a team). The cost is $20 per person or $100 per team, and the winning team gets its entry fee returned. We’ll also have a silent auction, concessions and “Pie-a-Coach.” To sign up, visit the event form or just scan the QR code on the flyer and feel free to get creative with your team name!

KHS & KJH Special Olympics athletes shine in Smithville

Five young athletes proudly display their Special Olympics medals in a gymnasium.
Our Kearney Special Olympics athletes from Kearney High School and Kearney Junior High traveled to Smithville on Thursday, Jan. 8, for an exciting day of competition in skills events against athletes from Smithville, Fort Osage, Wellington-Napoleon and Lathrop. It was an incredible day made even better by the support and help from our KHS Boys Basketball seniors, who were right there alongside our athletes throughout the event.

All four of our Bulldog athletes turned in outstanding performances, earning podium finishes and bringing home medals. In the team event, Kearney faced Fort Osage in a shooting-style basketball game where every completed pass was worth 2 points and each made shot earned 3 points. Our Bulldogs pulled out a thrilling 78-71 win to claim another medal and cap off an amazing day.

Huge shoutout to Uriah Maddick, Brody Shipers, Marshal Johnson and Logan Hopka for a fantastic day of competition and for representing Kearney with pride.

Quick Questionnaire for Class of 2025 Grads

Graduates in black caps and gowns with purple sashes celebrate their commencement.
We’re gathering some important information about our recent graduates. Each year, Missouri’s Department of Elementary and Secondary Education asks school districts to report the post-secondary paths taken by our alumni. This helps us understand how well we’re preparing students for success after high school.

If you’re the parent/guardian, other family member or acquaintance of a Kearney High School Class of 2025 graduate, we’d really appreciate your help by making them aware that we would like them to complete the short questionnaire linked below. It only takes a couple of minutes, and their responses make a big difference in helping us keep our programs strong and aligned with student needs.

And last but not least...

Three smiling people in a school hallway hold a colorful sign that reads "PHOEBE ROCKS THE FLUTE!".

Talent

Part of our job in Kearney School District is to provide opportunities for every student to find their focus and get really good at those things. That can mean running, jumping, swimming, throwing or wrestling. It can mean owning the stage or understanding how to market agricultural products. Or it can mean rocking the flute, among many, many other possible pursuits. Whatever their thing is, we're here to celebrate the talents of each student. Well done, Bulldogs.
