About Kearney Middle School
Kearney Middle School (grades 6–7) is where Bulldog students make the leap from elementary foundations to the deeper, exploratory learning that sets them up for success at Kearney Junior High and beyond. Inside our bright, recently modernized campus, 40‑plus certified teachers blend traditional best practices with hands‑on, project‑based experiences. Think lab‑based science units, inquiry‑driven ELA workshops, and Real‑World Learning “mini‑missions” that let students pitch solutions to community partners. The result is a tight‑knit learning community that consistently outperforms the state on Missouri Assessment Program (MAP) exams and earns top‑tier ratings from both the Missouri Department of Elementary & Secondary Education and independent reviewers.
Over the last five testing cycles, KMS has maintained top‑20% statewide status and posted math scores that rival selective middle schools in the Kansas City metro. Beyond core academics, our Bulldogs thrive in award‑winning fine‑arts ensembles, nationally recognized Scholar Bowl and Robotics teams, and a full menu of MSHSAA athletics that emphasize sportsmanship and Bulldog pride. Student leadership is woven throughout, from Peer Ambassadors who welcome new classmates to the “K‑Crew” service club that logs thousands of volunteer hours each year. Parents and guardians stay in the loop through ParentSquare, weekly Bulldog Bulletins, and student‑led conferences that highlight goal‑setting and growth.

KMS Students, Parents, and Guardians:
Welcome back to another exciting school year at Kearney Middle School!
As we begin this new year, I want to extend my heartfelt welcome to all of our sixth and seventh-grade students—whether you're returning or just beginning your journey with us. A new year offers a fresh start, new goals, and the opportunity to grow both academically and personally.
To our sixth graders: Our staff is here to ensure you've had a wonderful start to middle school, and I look forward to seeing how you continue to explore, learn, and challenge yourselves throughout the course of the year.
To our seventh graders: You are now leaders in our school community, and I encourage you to set a strong example, both in the classroom and beyond.
To our families: Thank you for your continued support, trust, and partnership. Your involvement is key to your child’s success, and we value the connection we share with each of you.
Let’s make this year one of curiosity, kindness, resilience, and achievement. Together, we’ll continue to build a school community where every student feels safe, supported, and inspired to do their best.
